Picture a street buzzing with people instead of cars. You’re pedaling in the fresh air, completely at ease, seeing your city from a whole new angle, maybe even bumping into an old friend… That’s a Cyclovia: for a few hours, we reserve public roads for active transportation to encourage physical activity, promote sustainable mobility, and create spaces for connection.
This Sunday, September 21, Laval will host its first-ever Cyclovia! A section of Boulevard Cartier (between Michaud and Ampère) will be closed to motor traffic and turned over to bikes, rollerblades, scooters—you name it!
This family-friendly street party is an invitation to get around differently, explore a Laval neighborhood at your own pace, and enjoy public space. More than just a bike route, the Cyclovia is a chance to meet your community while enjoying a variety of fun, sporty, and educational activities.
With our wide-ranging program, we make sure everyone has a good time—no matter their age! Thanks to the Cyclovia, you can :
With a growing cycling network and a tripled BIXI offer, biking in Laval is having a real moment. And it show - the share of bike trips has doubled since 2013! With the Cyclovia, we celebrate the progress of active transportation in Laval while continuing to push for safer, friendlier bike infrastructure.
The Cyclovia is more than a fun day out : it’s a tool for social and urban transformation. It invites us to rethink how we share public space, especially in a city where only 1.3% of the road network is dedicated to bike lanes, compared to 74% for cars. By giving the street back to the people, we create the space to imagine a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable city.
